A Level Economics Lecturer based in Zhuhai, China
Brockenhurst College has a new opportunity available for an International A Level Economics Lecturer to join their team based in Zhuhai, China. You will join us on a full time, fixed term basis for one year initially, from August 2025. In return you will receive a competitive salary of approx. £30,000 - £45,000 equivalent per year, depending on experience and depending on the exchange rate.

This strong partnership saw the launch of an international study programme starting in September 2014, incorporating the delivery of British Advanced Level qualifications and American AP courses at our partner school’s affiliated experimental school campus (renamed as Zhuhai Yifu Experimental Secondary School). Their international courses and International Department have been listed as No. 1 in Zhuhai City and No.17 nationally according to the newly published 2024 China International School Competitiveness Rank Report by King Lead. They are also ranked No. 22 in HKPEP Global Top 100 China Greater Bay Area Most Education Competitive International Schools 2025. Pearson Edexcel has awarded the School Pearson Edexcel Excellence School of the Year 2024 with one of their A Level Economics students achieving the highest mark in China.
With the success of its International Department, the school has attracted more students to study international courses with them. The International Department is seeking more international subject specialist teachers in the following area to join them in Zhuhai from August 2025.
- Economics
The academic entry requirement at the school is high but it can be a challenge as English language will be the second language for the learners and therefore lecturers with very sound subject knowledge and abilities to help learners to learn well with their second language are needed for the posts.
The ideal candidates would:
- Be ambitious and want to make a difference to young people’s lives.
- have a university degree in the subject area or relevant subject areas.
- Have a general teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE/Cert Ed/Level 5 DET).
- Have experienced British or Western education system and be familiar with British or Western culture.
- Have a minimum of two-year teaching experience in relevant subject area, preferably 15-19 years old students.
- Have experience in subject leading and curriculum design.
- Have excellent interpersonal skills, adaptability, cultural openness and outstanding organisational skills.
- Be below 60 Years old due to the regulations for work visa application in Zhuhai.
