Assistant LSA Co-ordinator

Brockenhurst College has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant LSA Co-Ordinator to join the team in Brockenhurst. You will join us on an annualised hours basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £21,185 - £23,271 per annum.

As our Assistant LSA Co-Ordinator, you will assist the LSA Co-ordinator to/with:

  • Co-ordinate and manage cross-college learning support team including organising the timetabling and placement of Learning Support Assistants
  • Co-ordinate and timetable staffing for Inspiration Room for students on the Autistic Spectrum
  • Identify recruitment requirements for Learning Support Assistants liaising with LSA Co-ordinator/ HoC ALS
  • Manage and monitor the overall level and distribution of Learning Assistant support and redeploy where necessary
  • Undertake all stages of the recruitment process for the employment of Learning Support Assistants         
  • Conduct the induction and mentoring of new staff
  • Contribute to the annual review process
  • Oversee and monitor the logging of additional support records on EMILY
  • Set up, manage and maintain appropriate contact records for Learning Support Assistants
  • Monitor and supervise the work of Learning Support Assistants and maintain observation records
  • Manage procedures for substitution cover
  • Liaise with the LDD Manager, Heads of Curriculum, support and teaching staff, parents and where appropriate, concerning the assessment of student support needs
  • Identify the need and contribute to the training of Learning Support Assistants
  • Chair Learning Support Assistant team meetings and attend other internal and external meetings as required
  • Liaise with Skills Development
  • Manage and monitor the overall level and distribution of Learning Assistant support and redeploy where necessary
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of the Learning Support Assistant’s work through lesson observation and feedback
  • Work closely with the LDD Manager
  • Delegated responsibilities, as required, from LSA Co-ordinator/ HoC ALS

The ideal Assistant LSA Co-Ordinator will need:

  • Educational qualifications to GCSE standard in Maths, English and L3 LSA qualification
  • The ability to relate well to students with a diverse range of needs
  • Willingness to undertake a relevant learning support qualification
  • The ability to communicate and establish rapport with young people and colleagues
  • A desire to work with and support the learning of young people and facilitate student integration
