Lecturer in Music
Here at Brockenhurst College, we are looking to recruit a Lecturer in Music on a part-time, permanent basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £31,930 to £42,454 pro rata per annum. (Unqualified teachers £25,297 to £31,930 pro rata per annum.)
We are a high-achieving college who attract around 2,800 sixth form students across the region each year. We are based within the stunning New Forest National Park and offer our students a huge range of courses and superb facilities.
The Role:
As our Lecturer in Music, you will continually improve the learning experience and achievement of students through effective teaching.
Responsibilities as our Lecturer in Music will include:
- Teach BTEC Music and lead practical music ensembles as agreed with the Curriculum Leader,
- Provide pastoral support where required
- Act as Course Leader, when requested
- Prepare and mark student work, monitor progress towards individual targets, keep records and provide timely reports/reviews to students, parents, employers and College managers, as appropriate
- Work closely with other colleagues to respond to the needs of student
- Pay due attention to the principles of inclusive learning
- Contribute to the design, delivery and future planning and development of the curriculum
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of developments in the relevant subject/course
- Organise and participate in relevant visits, field trips etc
- Attend and contribute to relevant meetings, including Enrolment/Open Events and Parents’ Evening, as appropriate
- Advise and assist the Curriculum Leader and other team members in all matters related to the delivery of subject specialisms
As our Lecturer in Music, you’ll ideally have:
- Degree or equivalent professional qualification in relevant subject area
- Appropriate teacher training qualification
- Excellent teaching skills
- Experience in delivering Music BTEC Programme at level 3
- Experience in running music ensembles
- Demonstrate a capability with relevant Music software
- The ability to manage learners and learning effectively
- The ability to develop effective learning resources
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- The ability to relate well to learners of all abilities and to assess learner needs
