Job Description

The College

We are a high-achieving college who attract around 3,000 sixth form students across the region each year. We are based within the stunning New Forest National Park and offer our students a huge range of courses and superb facilities.

The Role

As the Site Officer, you will be carrying out a wide variety of duties on site that include; Security of Premises and Contents; Painting and decorating; Heating; Electrical; Energy Conservation; Emergencies; Maintenance Work; Outside Areas; Porterage; Administration; Health and Safety.

Duties include locking, unlocking and maintaining appropriate security for the main College sites as well as operating the heating and hot water plant. You will visually inspect electrical fittings regularly, logging any defects and advising the Assistant Estates Manager or raising a helpdesk when necessary. You will be expected to liaise with emergency services, including calling in emergency services if required and ensuring they have clear access to the site. Maintenance work may include general repairs and plumbing, as well as carrying out or assisting with gardening and grounds duties when required.

Additionally, you will ensure that other staff are made aware of their health and safety responsibilities, ensuring that mechanical aids, steps and other ‘care-taking’ equipment are in safe condition. You may also carry out reasonable overtime requirements and undertake any other duties that may be reasonably required.

  • Have some working experience of general maintenance and repair work
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Flexible and able to work unsupervised and as part of a small team.
  • Fit and able to carry heavy loads and work in all weathers
  • Able to relate to 16-19-year olds in a firm but friendly manner
  • Poses a clean driving licence
  • City & Guilds in a recognised building trade (desirable)
